About Me Sheherazade Holman, Mezzo-Soprano, was introduced to the art of music when she was accepted to the Choir Academy of Harlem, where the world renowned Boys and Girls Choir of Harlem resided. There she would develop her vocal abilities and cultivate her passion for music. From fourth through twelfth grade, she was afforded the opportunity to travel and tour with the choir, singing behind greats such as Patty LaBelle, Donnie Mcklirkin and Gladys Knight. Surrounded by great singers, she was greatly inspired. She performed on legendary stages including the Apollo Theater and Radio City Music Hall. She learned the power in her voice while singing at influential places such as the United Nations as well as the 2007 U.S Open. After graduating Choir Academy of Harlem in 2008, Sheherazade grew as a performer. She performed in Handels Messiah at Concord Baptist Church as a principle soloist. Sheherazade also ministered in various gospel groups, sang with the world renowned Institutional Radio Choir at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and was a part of the Girls and Boys Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble. In that Ensemble, she traveled to China where she performed at the 11th China Shanghai International Arts Festival and many other places in China such as Shanghai, Wuhan, Xian and Harubin just to name a few. Through this ensemble, she also sang on ABC’s Good Morning America at the Library of Congress on the eve of the first inauguration of President Barack Obama, the Larry King show Christmas special and numerous other engagements. Inspired, Sheherazade was lead to Nyack College School of Music where she was encouraged by amazing individuals who nurtured and strengthened her vocal performance abilities. She completed her undergraduate studies and received a Bachelors of Music Degree in Vocal Performance. In this institution, she has been afforded the opportunity to tour the Mid-West with the Nyack College Chorale, sing in numerous concerts where she has been a featured soloist and most recently, participated in a concert at the prestigious Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center celebrating the School of Music’s 75th Anniversary. With the help of a community of nurturing professors, Sheherazade was able to audition for the Metropolitan Opera National Council in 2012. There, she was recognized and received an Encouragement Award for her noticeable talent and her efforts in the audition process. Most Recently, Sheherazade traveled with the off Broadway play “Mama I Want to Sing” in an extensive tour in Japan. She was able to perform on great stages in Shibuya, Osaka, and Roponggi Tokyo.
