About Me Buffalo NY native, Toney Rhodes, is an internationally known and respected musician, writer, composer, arranger, and producer. Under the tutelage of his mother, Constance M. Robinson—a gifted musician in her own right—he began playing the organ at age 14. His humble beginnings as an organist in his father’s Pentecostal church set the foundation for the future world-traveling musician to perfect his craft throughout high school. An adept learner with impressive skill, Rhodes became one of Buffalo’s most sought-after musical prodigies. In a short span of time, the rising composer caught the attention of one of the city’s legendary musicians and songwriters, Eric M. Reed. He took Rhodes under his wing as his protégé, where the teen greatly flourished, and mastered the art of music arranging and writing. Recently, Rhodes teamed up with some friends and launched a gospel ensemble based in Dortmund, Germany called, “Just Gospel.” Already, the dynamic musical group has garnered a reputation throughout Germany and Europe for delivering harmoniously high-energy traditional and contemporary music performances, by combining the finest German and American voices. To date, “Just Gospel” has recorded and released three stellar records currently in rotation on gospel radio throughout Europe, and worldwide via online streaming and digital distribution. In addition, Rhodes juggles numerous roles as Music Director for “The Mick Hayes Band,” and producer of their just-released single, “Archangel.” He also plays keys for “The Jay Man Trio,” a Jazz group; “The Marshall Badger Band,” a smooth Jazz collaboration; and “The All-Star Band,” specializing in R&B/Funk.
